[2] We sent Timothy, our beloved brother and faithful coworker in spreading God's Good News about the Messiah to strengthen your hearts with words of encouragement. And to stand alongside you as your faith faced fierce opposition, helping you plant your feet firmly on the bedrock of truth. His mission was to fortify your spirits so that no one would be shaken by these trials that crash against us like waves on the shore—trials that you already understand are part of our calling as followers of the Messiah.
