Because if our hearts convict us, it is because the Elohim is greater than our hearts and knows everything.
The F.O.G
[20] Even if our hearts condemn us, we can remember that God is greater than our hearts and knows everything about us. His perfect knowledge includes both our failures and His complete provision for them. If our hearts convict us, it is because Yahweh is greater than our hearts, and in His mercy, He is sending us a message to return to Him in repentance, for He knows everything.
The F.O.G Paraphrase
because if our heart may condemn—because greater is God than our heart, and He doth know all things.
Young's Literal Translation
