They were especially grieved by his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

(38) Distressed especially over the word which he spoke that they would no longer see his face. And they sent him on his way to the boat.

[38] What pained them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. With heavy hearts, they accompanied him to the ship, watching until he disappeared from view.

sorrowing most of all for the word that he had said—that they are about no more to see his face; and they were accompanying him to the ship.
