Consider what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what vindication! In every way you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
Berean Standard Bible (BSB)
For behold, this same thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vengeance! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.
World English Bible (WEB)
For{G1063} behold{G2400}{(G5628)} this{G5124} selfsame thing{G846}, that{G5209} ye sorrowed{G3076}{(G5683)} after{G2596} a godly sort{G2316}, what{G4214} carefulness{G4710} it wrought{G2716}{(G5662)} in you{G5213}, yea{G235}, what clearing of yourselves{G627}, yea{G235}, what indignation{G24}, yea{G235}, what fear{G5401}, yea{G235}, what vehement desire{G1972}, yea{G235}, what zeal{G2205}, yea{G235}, what revenge{G1557}! In{G1722} all{G3956} things ye have approved{G4921}{(G5656)} yourselves{G1438} to be{G1511}{(G5750)} clear{G53} in{G1722} this matter{G4229}.
Strong's King James
(11) For behold what eager diligence this exact sorrow according to אֱלֹהִים Elohim-God produced in you. Such apology, indignation, fear, longing desire, enthusiasm and such avenging of wrong! In everything you commended yourselves towards purity in this matter.
The F.O.G*
[11] Look at the beautiful fruit that grew from your godly sorrow: What passionate determination to clear yourselves! What holy indignation against sin! What reverent fear of God's holiness! What longing for restoration! What fervent zeal to honor the Messiah! What readiness to see justice done! At every point, you've proven yourselves innocent in this matter.
The F.O.G Paraphrase
for, lo, this same thing—your being made sorry toward God—how much diligence it doth work in you! but defence, but displeasure, but fear, but longing desire, but zeal, but revenge; in every thing ye did approve yourselves to be pure in the matter.
