But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Now you are, "A CHOSEN CLASS, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A SET APART HOLY NATION! A PEOPLE OF HIS OWN POSSESSION." So that you may proclaim the excellence of character of the One who called you from darkness into His wonderful light.

[9] But you are something extraordinary: a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who belong specially to God. Why? So you can broadcast the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness's grip into His marvelous light.
